"NEW
HANDGUNS THAT YOU CANNOT PURCHASE
IN MASSACHUSETTS"
We are constantly asked "Can I buy a new (Manufacturer's name/ model) in this
state?"
Here is just a PARTIAL listing of
new firearms that licensed
Massachusetts residents CANNOT purchase from a dealer in this state
because they do not comply with the MA Consumer Protection
regulations and/or the 1998 Gun Control laws.
Handguns must meet the
requirement of BOTH the 1998 Gun Control LAWS and
940 CMR Consumer Protection regulations. Some handguns are legal to sell under the regs
only
and some only under the laws. They must comply with BOTH to be legal to sell.
If you have any questions
regarding the future availability of the items listed
below in MA compliant configuration, please contact the manufacturers
directly since we don't know what their plans are.
For a link to the MA AG's
site concerning these regulations please visit our REGULATIONS page.
All dealers in MA must follow
the regulations without exceptions.
For specific legal questions regarding the Consumer Protection regulations
please call the
Office of the Attorney General in Boston. We are not qualified to answer
questions regarding
the interpretation of these regs and laws.

PARDINI Model SP .22LR high precision target
pistols
ILLEGAL
IN MASS.! Any dealer that sells one of these after 2/14/02 is
subject to criminal charges. These are now illegal to sell in Massachusetts because they
are not on THE LIST. Although there is an "target" exemption on the
consumer protection regulations,
there is no
"target" exemption in the Chapter 180 laws.
These were available for sale under the "solely for target
competition use" exemption of the Massachusetts consumer protection regulations. We
spent a lot of time and money in legal fees to get an official "OK" from the
Attorney General's office so that you may be able to buy these. Now they are
illegal to sell.

If you bought one of these brand new from a dealer in MA
after February of 2002, it is our understanding that it was sold illegally. We could be
wrong. If so, please show us where there is a target exemption in Chapter 180 and we'll
start selling them again. |
Small pistols that are illegal to sell in Massachusetts
The folks
at Magnum Research have emphatically told us that they don't plan on ever
submitting their handguns for MA certification. Why not Doug? We have lots
of customers who would appreciate the fine quality of your handguns.
Therefore, you will never be able to buy a new Desert Eagle or any of their
other fine firearms in this state! It's too bad because Magnum Research has
always been know for offering nothing but high quality products.

Another one that
we can't sell in MA. Check out all the nice Single Action Army revolvers that you
cannot buy in Massachusetts at:

On May 12th,
2005 (or was it 2004?)
Glock announced that they are going to offer MA compliant models. On or
about June 30th, new Glock pistols were removed from the MA market due to a
difference of opinion between Glock and the MA Attorney General's office
over the loaded chamber indicator. News releases from the A.G.'s office are
on the Glock page..

this pistol has extra safeties, a loaded round

this MA compliant....the factory has told us that
they have no intention of certifying any of their guns for sale in MA.
The arrogant tone of the Springfield Armory representative that I spoke with
on the phone may as well said to me... "We
can't be bothered with your state". Maybe I'm being a
little over-sensitive but that's what if felt like.
