Police Department Pickups

If your firearms — or a family member's — are being held at a police department, you don't have to figure it out alone. Call the shop and ask for Jim or Carl, and we'll do our best to work with you on picking them up.

How It Works

  • Call the shop — (781) 932-3133 — and ask for Jim or Carl. Tell us which department is holding the firearms and how many there are.
  • Depending on the town's location and our staffing, we'll do our best to work with you on picking them up.
  • We handle the paperwork — and with firearms held by police departments, there is a lot of it. It's time-consuming and costly to do right, and we do it right.
  • Once retrieved, we sell the firearms for you (see how consignment works) or transfer them to another person properly.

What It Costs

There is a $100 minimum pickup fee, plus a transfer fee per gun. We offer this as a courtesy to our customers and price it to recover our costs — the driving, the waiting rooms, and the paperwork are real.

One thing to know: we do not have the space to store firearms. Once we pick them up, they go on the list to be sold, or get transferred to the person you designate — we'll agree on the plan before we pick anything up.

When This Comes Up

Most folks find us for this after a license expires or is revoked, when firearms are turned in during an estate settlement, or after a move. Whatever the situation, you'll get a straight answer about what's possible — and if we can't help with your particular town, we'll tell you that too.
