Trigger Work & Gunsmithing

A better trigger is the cheapest accuracy upgrade there is. We install proven kits from the makers we trust, keep every factory safety working, and function check every job before it goes back in your hands.

Trigger Kits We Install

Apex Tactical — S&W M&P, Shield & Glock

The gold standard for striker-fired upgrades. Apex's flat-faced and forward-set trigger kits and sear/spring kits reduce pre-travel and overtravel, smooth out the take-up, and give you a cleaner break and shorter reset — while keeping every factory safety (striker block, trigger safety) fully functional. Big difference on an M&P or Shield you already like but wish broke cleaner.

Cajun Gun Works — CZ

If you shoot a CZ 75, SP-01, Shadow or P-series, Cajun Gun Works is the name. Hammers, sear work, spring kits and short-reset parts that transform the double-action pull and lighten the single-action break without giving up reliable primer strikes.

Wilson Combat — 1911, Beretta 92 & S&W Revolvers

Match-grade 1911 trigger and action parts from the company that built its reputation on them, their well-regarded action kit for the Beretta 92 platform, and spring tune kits that smooth out S&W K, L and N-frame revolvers.

Volquartsen — Ruger Mark Series

For the Ruger Mark-series pistols, Volquartsen's accurizing kits are the classic answer — crisp, light and consistent, and a night-and-day change on a factory Mark IV.

The Technical Side, In Plain English

  • Pull weight — how many pounds it takes to break the shot. Lighter isn't automatically better; it has to match how you use the gun.
  • Take-up and creep — the slack and grit before the break. Good kits clean this up more than they change the weight.
  • Overtravel and reset — how far the trigger moves after the break and how soon it's ready again. This is where follow-up shots get faster.
  • Springs vs. sear geometry — spring swaps are cheap but move everything at once; quality sear parts change the feel without gambling on light primer strikes.

Every job gets a full function check — safeties, sear engagement, reliable ignition. We don't hand a gun back until we've run it. Want it proven on the range too? Add a range test — $40, covers time and ammo.

Straight talk on carry guns: we'll talk through what's appropriate for a defensive pistol versus a range or competition gun before we touch anything. We only do work that keeps every factory safety functional — if a request isn't safe or isn't smart, we'll tell you so.

Troubleshooting

Light strikes? Failures to feed, eject or reset? Bring it in. We'll diagnose it, fix what's actually wrong, and range test it before it goes back in your hands — so the fix is proven, not promised. Firearms coming in for work must be unloaded with the action open, please.

Range test: $40 — covers time and ammo.
Straight Answers

Common Questions

Can you install a trigger kit I bought myself?

Yes — that's exactly what our installation rates cover: $50 for Apex kits, $100 for Cajun Gun Works on CZ pistols, $100 for Wilson Combat on 1911s and Beretta 92s, $50 on S&W K/L/N-frame revolvers, and $45 for Volquartsen on the Ruger Mark IV. Every install gets a full function check before it goes back to you.

Will a trigger kit make my gun less safe?

Not the way we do it. Quality drop-in kits from Apex, Cajun, Wilson and Volquartsen are engineered to keep every factory safety — striker block, trigger safety, firing-pin block — fully functional, and we verify all of them in the function check.

How light should my carry trigger be?

Our honest answer: a defensive pistol and a range gun are different jobs. Come talk to us — we'll walk through the trade-offs and set the gun up for how you actually use it.

Do you test the gun after the work?

Every job gets a full function check, and a range test is available on any job for $40 — covers time and ammo. When we fix something, we prove the fix before it goes back.

My gun has light strikes / won't cycle — can you look at it?

That's exactly what we do. Bring it in unloaded with the action open, tell us what it's doing, and we'll diagnose it, fix it, and prove the fix at the range.

What does trigger work cost?

Installation labor runs $45–$100 depending on the platform, and kits run $20–$400 — the full price breakdown is on this page. Don't see your gun? Call (781) 932-3133 and we'll quote it straight.
